Biogas production is achieved as a result of controlled microbial degradation of organic materials such as manure or food waste in anaerobic digestion. In the anaerobic digester is the name of the plant, where gas is at a controlled temperature, pH and loading rate for the growth of microorganisms that feed on organic matter and produces biogas and liquid effluent biologically stable. Biogas is a mixture of approximately 60-70% methane (natural gas), 30-40% carbon dioxide and other gas components, such as hydrogen sulfide. The heat of the gas based on the number of methane and contains about 600 BTUs per cubic foot.

Run the biogas plant at the farm most households that have at least 800 cows. Ystems economically viable for dairy cows below the 800 possible, but depends on the evaluation of agricultural farm base to decide whther this is a reasonable cost and benefits. No farm, or a combination of farms, may be too big for such a system.
